This CDC recently released updated guidance for the K-12 school setting to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The CDC recommends staff, students, and visitors wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

For some Indianapolis school districts, the 2021-2022 school year has already begun or is about to begin soon. Therefore, school districts had already shared guidance about COVID-19 protocols for the 2021-2022 school year.

Based on the updated recommendations from the CDC, Indianapolis Public Schools has changed its mask policy. 

Instead of recommending unvaccinated staff and students wear masks, the district has shifted to all staff and students wearing masks. IPS may not be the only school district to make changes. Parents and potential school visitors should check school districts’ websites for the latest guidance.
