For some Indianapolis school districts, the 2021-2022 school year has already begun or is about to begin soon. Therefore, school districts had already shared guidance about COVID-19 protocols for the 2021-2022 school year.

Based on the updated recommendations from the CDC, Indianapolis Public Schools has changed its mask policy.

After reviewing new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, @StateHealthIN, & @Marion_Health, we have updated our mask protocol for students & staff to require everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask while indoors.

Instead of recommending unvaccinated staff and students wear masks, the district has shifted to all staff and students wearing masks. IPS may not be the only school district to make changes. Parents and potential school visitors should check school districts’ websites for the latest guidance.
