Glow & Grow is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting youth, families, and communities. Through camps, school partnerships, garden clubs, and community programs, Glow & Grow creates opportunities for learners to explore science, literacy, nutrition, sustainability, and wellness through hands-on, nature-focused activities.

Glow & Grow believes that thoughtful integration of gardens and outdoor environments enhances learning, fosters environmental awareness, and promotes healthy living, both mentally and physically. Gardening and outdoor learning go beyond establishing gardens on school grounds. This work also involves designing outdoor spaces that serve as living classrooms where students and adults can explore academic content and real-world skills in purposeful and interactive ways.

Our organization grew out of earlier outdoor learning initiatives developed through educational consulting work at Blazing Brilliance. As the programs expanded and community interest grew, Glow & Grow transitioned to an independent nonprofit to broaden its reach and deepen its impact.

Camps

Over the past three summers, Glow & Grow has created immersive outdoor learning camps.

Summer 2023

Blooming Verses: Planting Poetic Seeds
Youth Summer Poetry Workshop at Brick Street Poetry Neighborhood Literary Art Park.

Students participated in an outdoor workshop where they learned to write multiple forms of poetry, culminating in a public poetry performance.

The program was featured by The Poetry Foundation.

Summer 2024

Glow & Grow Summer Camp at Growing Places Indy

Students worked with farmers, harvested crops, and fed chickens. They learned farming techniques, planned and planted a community garden bed, cooked harvest meals, engaged with guest speakers, and practiced strategies for maintaining mental wellness.

Classroom Partnerships

Glow & Grow partners with schools to bring outdoor learning into the school day.

In Spring 2025, Glow & Grow facilitated ten life science lessons with a group of first graders. Taking learning beyond classroom walls deepened students’ understanding and curiosity about the natural world.

Garden Clubs

In 2025, Glow & Grow launched its first after-school garden clubs.

A twice-a-week club at St. Monica School allows students to care for a garden through planting, watering, harvesting, and weeding while also learning simple recipes. These experiences help students develop a sense of responsibility, explore their curiosity, and gain an appreciation for the environment.

Adult and Family Learning

Glow & Grow has also received growing interest from adults and families who want to participate in outdoor learning.

Beginning in 2026, Glow & Grow will offer learning opportunities for adults and families, including hands-on workshops on gardening, cooking, sustainability, and wellness.

More information will be shared soon.
