Last week, we hosted our first Talent and Art Showcase. The event was an opportunity for our scholars to showcase their talent in singing, dancing, and the arts. The event began with 12 individual dance performances. The performances included: solo and group dance acts, solo singing performance, duet of the hit song “Glory” and poetry accompanied with art work. The final part of the performance featured our 4th and 5th Grade scholars singing Hezekiah Walker’s “I Need You to Survive.” This was our way to pay tribute to the recent hurricanes that destroyed homes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. It was also a tribute to the victims of Las Vegas who lost their lives in the largest modern day mass shooting in US history.
In addition to singing the tribute song, the scholars spent the previous weeks learning about the damages and working together to find their best way to pay tribute to those in needs.
